Do you have strong health-related project coordination experience? Would you like to contribute to the Eliminate Hepatitis C program and play an integral role in a national health promotion campaign? Then this could be the role for you!

An exciting opportunity now exists for a Project Officer to join the Viral Hepatitis Elimination team at Burnet. You will assist Program Managers to coordinate the Eliminate Hepatitis C (EC) Australia Partnership, which aims to achieve hepatitis C elimination in Australia by 2030 by using a multidisciplinary, cohesive and appropriately targeted nationwide approach to ensure we maintain high numbers of people on hepatitis C treatment to meet our elimination targets.

The position will also support other key public health projects such as the Optimise Study, which is a research project led by Burnet Institute and Doherty Institute, that aims to find out how Victorians are experiencing COVID-19 and responding to the measures introduced to stop the spread of the virus.

In this role, you will:

• Provide operational and administrative support to the EC Australia Health Promotion and Aboriginal Health Strategy components, including developing project work plans and reports, stakeholder engagement and organising and coordinating meetings for two national reference/advisory groups.
• Assist with stakeholder management support. This may include providing secretariat and project management support for state and territories leads; facilitating relationships between researchers, practitioners and policy makers; and planning and coordinating events, activities, workshops, webinars and other presentations across the EC Australia Partnership and Optimise Study.
• Assist in the development of EC Australia knowledge translation publications and resources. This may include coordinating the editing, design of publications, resources and presentations and supporting the preparation of small reports, publications and resources. This includes preparing content for the website.
• Liaise with a wide range of representatives from all state and territories through the EC Australia and Optimise Study governance structure and maintain good relationships with partner organisations.

This position is for a period of 1-year with a 0.6 – 1.0 FTE option. Ongoing working from home options will be provided as well as flexible working hours!

Let’s talk about you

The following criteria are essential requirements:

• Bachelor degree with Honours (or equivalent)
• Experience working in government, community services, advocacy and/ or research addressing public health
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including and the ability to engage professionally with stakeholders and display empathy and understanding in dealing with marginalised people
• Demonstrated project coordination experience in the fields of health
• Capacity to work well under minimal supervision, and willingness to contribute to broader research and administrative tasks
• Demonstrated understanding of ethical principles underpinning research with marginalised populations
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, including being able to manage multiple research-related tasks
• Extensive knowledge of OH&S standards and how they apply to expectations around workplace behaviour
• Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and other database packages

The following criteria are preferable:

• Master’s degree (or near completion) in public health, epidemiology, psychology, behavioural or social sciences, public health, or a related field
• Experience in the dissemination/ translation of research findings
• Excellent engagement skills with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external clients, partners and stakeholders
• Personal qualities of energy, initiative, commitment to teamwork and collaboration and respect for others
• Statistical analysis skills and experience in the use of statistical software such as Stata/SPSS
