Why Baptist World Aid?

If you have a desire to be part of a passionate, committed, people-oriented organisation that is committed to ending poverty… then you’re in the right place!

Baptist World Aid Australia is an international Christian development organisation working in 18 countries. We partner with like-minded organisations overseas to implement community development and disaster projects that empower communities to lift themselves out of poverty. Last year, our work directly benefited 332,391 people.

When you join Baptist World Aid, you’ll become part of a rich, 60-year history. Our Advocacy team is small and agile, made up of passionate individuals who advocate for change for the marginalised and oppressed. Our Advocacy team’s work is foremost and utmost focused on equipping, educating and driving change where we see it is needed most. The team works across many areas of advocacy – from producing campaign tools to supporting our grass roots advocacy groups within churches, lobbying our countries leaders with other Baptist leaders, working alongside fashion brand companies to help them shape their business practices towards supply chains that are free from worker exploitation and working collaboratively with our strategic partners. As a valued Advocacy team member and lead, you’ll be integral to achieving our mission of helping Australians tackle the injustice of global poverty.

We’re looking for someone with the know-how, passion, and commitment to inspire our faithful supporters to action on poverty… is it you?

Who are we looking for? Corporate Advocacy Lead

Location: Head office is in North Ryde, NSW. Flexible working conditions available.

Position: Permanent full-time or part-time (28-35 hours per week)

You will be the lead for Baptist World Aid’s signature Ethical Fashion Report project and wider initiatives to collaborate with business and consumers to drive positive change on labour rights and environmental sustainability. You’ll be comfortable talking with senior leaders in fashion companies and excited to provide advice and support on the changes they need to implement to make their supply chains more ethical for workers and the environment.

You will be able to engage with the detail of corporate reports and public disclosures to identify the most salient information to evidence the actions companies are/aren’t taking; while keeping a hold of the overall project and ensuring key timelines are met and deliverables produced.

You’ll thrive on leading a small team to continue to grow in their capability to engage and influence both corporate and consumer/supporter stakeholders, coordinate with internal stakeholders and deliver key outputs.

As a Christian, you’ll share our vision for a world without poverty as God intends… and participate enthusiastically in prayer sessions, biblical reflection sessions and church services.
