Are you looking for rich and rewarding volunteering experience?

Perhaps you have some skills or interests you could share – arts, crafts, music, movement, exercise, dance, drama or storytelling. Perhaps you have worked in hospitality or health. Byron Shire Respite Service (BSRS), based in Brunswick Heads NSW, is a small non-for-profit that has operated for 30 years governed by a voluntary Management Committee. The mission of the organisation is ‘Enriching the Ageing and Living Experience’ with the purpose to provide a creative person-centred service and a ‘welcomed break’ to local residents and their carers that choose to live in their home or chosen environment.

Byron Respite has provided a Centre Based Program 5 days a week at the Brunswick Valley Community Centre since it was built in 1996 and also provides in-home care and community access for isolated individuals. The organisation specialises in dementia care, 4 days a week of dementia-specific Centre Based programs and roughly 50% of the organisation's clients are living with dementia. BSRS services the Ballina, Byron, Lismore and Tweed Shires.
