Are you looking for rich and rewarding volunteering experience?
Do you enjoy being with people? Do you see yourself enriching the living and ageing experience of the elders of our community?
Byron Shire Respite Service is looking for new volunteers to join our team!
Perhaps you have some skills or interests you could share – arts, crafts, music, movement, exercise, dance, drama or storytelling. Perhaps you have worked in hospitality or health. Maybe you like to pamper and have experience in hand/foot care or massage. Maybe gardening is your passion or you are a handy man/woman. Whatever your skills and experience there is probably a niche here at the Byron Shire Respite Service just for you.
Byron Shire Respite Service (BSRS), based in Brunswick Heads NSW, is a small non-for-profit that has operated for 30 years governed by a voluntary Management Committee. The mission of the organisation is ‘Enriching the Ageing and Living Experience’ with the purpose to provide a creative person-centred service and a ‘welcomed break’ to local residents and their carers that choose to live in their home or chosen environment.
Byron Respite has provided a Centre Based Program 5 days a week at the Brunswick Valley Community Centre since it was built in 1996 and also provides in-home care and community access for isolated individuals. The organisation specialises in dementia care, 4 days a week of dementia-specific Centre Based programs and roughly 50% of the organisation's clients are living with dementia. BSRS services the Ballina, Byron, Lismore and Tweed Shires.
Enriching the Living & Ageing Experience
The Centre Volunteer plays a key role in Respite Day Service. The purpose of the role is to assist BSRS’s staff and other volunteers to facilitate the Respite Day program. Volunteers are an essential community linkage that ensure BSRS’s vision is carried out on a day-to-day basis. Volunteers are community members assisting and sharing their time and skills with other community members.
We are looking for volunteers to help one day a week at our Centre from 9:45am-3:15pm, Monday-Friday.
To register your interest, please reach out via email and we will arrange a time for you to visit the Centre for a trial.
If you have questions about this great opportunity please contact Peter Devine, General Manager at [email protected] using the subject line: Centre Support Volunteers - Brunswick Heads enquiry via EthicalJobs.
