Brisbane Youth Service is a medium-sized incorporated association providing holistic responses to vulnerable young people (aged 12 – 25 years) and young families who are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk of becoming homeless.

Brisbane Youth Service is looking for a collaborative advisor with outstanding Human Resource Management skills and a drive to contribute to an organisation supporting young people and their families.

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of all Human Resources (HR), Industrial Relations (IR) and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices and capability across the organisation.

This role also manages the Workplace Health and Safety Officer and is supported with HR administration by the Administration Manager.

To undertake the Human Resources Manager role, you will require a tertiary qualification in HR Management or related discipline, have a current Queensland driver’s license and you must hold a current Working with Children Positive Notice (blue card).

Selection Criteria

To be successful in your application you will need to provide written responses to the following selection criteria:

  1. Understanding of and commitment to Brisbane Youth Service vision, objectives and values, including a commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion in the workforce.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary HR, IR and WHS management practices and their application throughout the employee life cycle.
  3. Proven ability to partner with business leaders and provide accurate, timely, and professional advice based on current legislation, industrial instruments, and policies and procedures.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to influence, counsel, negotiate and mediate maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
  5. The ability to work independently and source and interpret specialist HR/IR/WHS advice when required.
  6. Proven planning, project management and analytical skills, working within agreed priorities, resources and timeframes, and an ability to independently prioritise work and meet deadlines.
