ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary responsibility of this position is to support quality case management activities as part of the Domestic Violence Intervention Response to maximise the safety of all families at risk. This position provides early intervention, safety skills, planning and information for families across Moreton Bay following Queensland Police Service (QPS) attendance in relation to domestic and family violence and to support people (predominantly women with children) who have experienced domestic and family violence (aggrieved persons).

The support worker may assist the case workers to refer high risk domestic violence clients to the High Risk Team (HRT) to collaboratively case manage and increase safety within the Integrated Service System.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish contact with clients referred by Queensland Police Service.
  • Predominantly providing support to the PRADO (Partnership Response at Domestic Occurrences) caseworker and being guided by the PRADO caseworker.
  • Provide information about services and community supports, liaise with linked services and provide follow up.
  • Ascertain contributing factors and prioritise client needs, following client lead and strength based framework.
  • Identify and work to address potential barriers to client engagement, conduct risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Maintain an awareness of all relevant services provided by the community sector.
  • Keep accurate client records and other data as required by CADA and funding body.
  • Provide additional services and make follow up calls with clients on a needs basis or as directed.
  • Liaise and collaborate with police and other partnered agencies namely; Child Safety and Corrections.
  • Participate in CADA events and attend staff supervision, staff meetings, team building activities
  • Obtain feedback from client on relevant services where required.
  • Obtain and maintain an in-depth of knowledge and understanding of the domestic and family violence services Practice principles, standards and guidance (2020), and ensure these guide all client work.
  • Provide support to PRADO case worker including; administrative support by way of data entry, creating client files and on referring clients to relevant services.
