Who we are

CADA is a community organisation funded by the Queensland Government Department of Justice and Attorney-General to support adults and children affected by domestic and family violence (DFV). CADA has been supporting women and children experiencing DFV in Moreton Bay for 29 years.

What we do

CADA provides a range of services, including crisis/court support, individual counselling and wellbeing programs. We are active in early intervention and prevention strategies through community education and advocacy.

CADA runs programs funded by Mercy Community, Churches of Christ, FRS Consortium and UCC Partner Advocate. CADA auspices Mindle Bygul Aboriginal Corporation and partners with yourtown, Churches of Christ, Uniting Care and Encircle. CADA has a record of strong corporate governance throughout our 29 years of operation.

Who we seek

We are encouraging interested applicants who work or live in Queensland to apply. Previous board experience is ideal but not essential, as we provide professional development and mentoring. It is expected CADA board members will:

  • Have community sector experience and ideally experience working in or contact with the domestic and family violence sector
  • Attend after-hours board meetings (approximately 9 a year running for two hours), occasional special meetings such as strategic planning and one Annual General Meeting a year. Meetings can be attended in person or virtually
  • Come to meetings having read the pre-circulated board documents
  • Hold or be willing to apply for a National Police Check and a Working with Children card
  • Not appear on the ASIC banned and disqualified register and not have been declared bankrupt and not be a respondent to a Domestic and Family Violence Protection Order.

What’s in it for me?

Australia is having a moment of recognition of and response to the domestic and family violence crisis our nation is experiencing. Moreton Bay region has one of the highest rates of DFV in Queensland. Being a CADA board member is an opportunity to make a direct positive difference in the lives of people experiencing DFV in Moreton Bay by supporting the direction and governance of CADA.

CADA is going through a change management process to respond to the high demands for our services and we are using innovation and stakeholder engagement to build a strong, sustainable and influential future. Being a CADA board member is a chance to provide strategic oversight of our important work now and of CADA’s future going forward.
