About the role

The aim of the Kinship First Supports Practitioner is to support the safety, stability and development of children and young people in shorter-term (three months or less) statutory kinship placements by enhancing family capability and parenting skills, improving relationships between the child, parents and caregivers and improving social connectedness.

Minimum Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Welfare Studies, Community Service or related discipline.

  • Is committed to building capacity in carers and resilience in families and young people
  • Is passionate about families, and where appropriate, keeping children within the biological family, or with a significant family member
  • Enjoys building relationships with children and their families
  • Forms strong partnerships with DHHS, Child Protection, schools and other support services involved in a child or young person’s life
