The purpose of the Youth Care Worker role is to provide a safe, caring, supportive and nurturing environment for children and young people aged between 10 and 17 years in one of several residential units. The Youth Care Workers play a key role as caregivers and use a trauma-informed lens to contribute to meeting the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of children and young people within our care.
Along with providing a safe and stable home environment, the Youth Care worker will assist the children and young people in learning to live with others, and developing other life skills including meal preparation, budgeting, house cleaning and general self-care.
The units are staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Day to day, the Youth Care Worker will take guidance and direction from a House Supervisor or Team Leader ensuring that care plans are understood and followed, the house is kept clean and tidy.
Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care) OR
Working towards relevant qualification upon commencement in the role.
