About your environment

Since our establishment in 1936, Cancer Council Victoria has developed an international reputation for our innovative work in cancer research, prevention and support. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, we play a leading role in reducing the impact of all cancers on all people.

The Prevention Division aims to prevent cancer for all Victorians. We prioritise health inequalities, especially in relation to Aboriginal people, and in culturally diverse and socio-economically disadvantaged communities.

Quit sits within the Prevention Division at Cancer Council Victoria and includes:

  • National Cessation Platform (quit.org.au) - a digital platform which supports all Australians who smoke and/or vape to quit and stay quit
  • Quitline Services - telephone counselling service for smoking and vaping cessation in Victoria, South Australia, NT and Western Australia
  • Quit Victoria - focussed on equitably reducing tobacco related harm across Victoria through social marketing campaigns, policy and advocacy, research and evaluation, and health & community systems level initiatives to prevent uptake of smoking and /or vaping and increased cessation support to all Victorians
  • National Best Practice Support Service for Nicotine and Smoking Cessation (Quit Centre) - provides health professionals with the latest clinical information, resources and training on smoking and vaping cessation.
