Since our establishment in 1936, Cancer Council Victoria has developed an international reputation for our innovative work in cancer research, prevention and support. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, we play a leading role in reducing the impact of all cancers on all people. The Cancer Epidemiology Division (CED) conducts a broad range of research aimed at expanding our understanding of the factors that contribute to or protect against the development of cancer, or survival following a cancer diagnosis. It comprises a multidisciplinary team of epidemiologists, statisticians, dieticians, data managers and support staff, committed to understanding how to improve our health.
A postdoctoral Research Fellow is sought to contribute to four programmes of research that aim to: (i) identify whether cancer risk factors differ for those with a family history of cancer, (ii) determine the best performing cancer risk models, (iii) develop and validate a risk model to estimate the risk of a second breast cancer event, and (iv) to incorporate risk associated heritable methylation marks into an existing prostate cancer risk model. Specific projects include: undertaking systematic reviews; pooling, harmonising and calibrating data from various sources to be input into various risk models; statistical analyses involving model development and validation; and gene-environment interaction analyses utilising data from international consortia.

This full-time fixed term position to 31 December 2022 provides a salary within range $86,449 -$102,297 pa plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card.
