For over 30 years, Canice’s Kitchen has been supporting marginalised community members experiencing homelessness with access to support.

Over the past three years we have undergone a transformation, moving on from being just a simple soup kitchen to a multi-service community space which meets the needs of up to 150 community members a day.

In this newly created role, the Facilities Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our commercial kitchen, café, coffee shop and service areas.

Being able to support volunteer teams, whilst managing the unique needs of our marginalised community members is key to the role. High levels of customer service, empathy, and ability to manage a crisis are essential.

Alongside the customer service aspect of the position, you will be responsible for ordering, stock control, managing deliveries and pickups, general maintenance including safety and security audits, coordinate property related contractors and suppliers and liaise with other community agencies.

This is a fast-paced role which requires a unique combination of practical, administration and interpersonal skills. No two days are the same and your skills in creating relationships with people from all walks of life will see you flourish in this position.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Minimum 3+ years facilities management and/or operations experience
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage crisis, delegate and work as part of a team
  • Strong computer and administrative skills. Experience with Hubspot or other CRM's highly regarded
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A good understanding of community development
  • Desire to support vulnerable communities
  • A sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety
  • You MUST hold a current Australian driver’s license and be able to lift at least 10kg
  • Proof of your COVID-19 vaccination or valid exemption
  • Ability to work rotating Saturday shifts
  • Respect for the Catholic faith

Note: The role requires you to be onsite from 7am
