About the Role

Caraniche Forensic Youth Service is a Victorian, state-wide provider of Youth Offending Programs to the Youth Justice sector. Caraniche Forensic Youth Service operate under a “one team” philosophy where there is opportunity for cross learning and support between teams. This role will be based in West Metro (Sunshine).

This is a highly specialised role, with the opportunity for a mix of clinical work (i.e. conducting comprehensive risk assessments, provision of forensic reports and delivery of treatment) and leadership/supervisory responsibilities. Engaging with professionals from multidisciplinary backgrounds through attendance at Care Team Meetings is critical to our work.

Please note during COVID-19 restrictions this position may involve telehealth delivery and working remotely, including from our Parkville office if required.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a skilled Senior Clinician (Psychologist or Social Worker) to provide leadership and mentoring to clinicians. Senior Clinicians work as part of the Leadership team and are responsible for managing day to day operations of the team, liaising with Senior Youth Justice staff and enhancing skills of clinicians on the team.

Ideally, you will have experience with, and/or a strong desire to work with a youth cohort who are culturally and linguistically diverse and present with varied needs including complex trauma, behavioural issues, mental health, substance use, and low cognitive functioning. This is a fast paced and dynamic role so organisational skills - including an ability to prioritise tasks - is essential.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Registration with AHPRA or AASW
  • Experience in clinical and/or forensic assessment, case formulation and treatment - ideally with a youth population
  • Experience leading teams and providing supervision and mentorship to clinicians
  • High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Independence and confidence working in a dynamic, faced paced environment, with a flexible and agile approach
  • Commitment to Child Safe Standards and Practices
  • Current valid Driver’s License

Desirable:

  • Registration as a supervisor with AHPRA
  • Experience with group intervention
  • Proficient in the use of information technology
  • Previous experience working with mandated clients with a contemplative or pre-contemplative mindset
  • An understanding of the Risks, Needs, Responsivity framework and experience conducting forensic risk assessments (HCR-20, SAVRY, SARA)
