Program Background

The Kemitraan Indonesia Australia untuk Infrastruktur (KIAT) is a 10-year facility supported by the Australian Government and implemented by Cardno. KIAT’s overarching goal is to support ‘sustainable and inclusive economic growth through improved access to infrastructure for all people’.

The Role

The Deputy Director – Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion will lead KIAT’s portfolio of activities focusing on GEDSI including both stand-alone GEDSI targeted activities and mainstreaming across all other KIAT activities in support of the Government of Indonesia’s targets.

As a member of KIAT’s Senior Management Team, the Deputy Director will promote collaboration and innovation across the activity portfolio and identify opportunities to strengthen performance and overall impact, including through mainstreaming of GEDSI. The Deputy Director will represent KIAT and work with a range of partners across government, the private sector, civil society and industry associations.

About You

You will be a motivated and proactive GEDSI Senior Manager/Director with the right combination of great project administration and operations, teamwork, and a commitment to technical excellence.

Specifically, you will meet the following selection criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, gender studies, public policy, management, development studies or related area.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the design and management of high-level advisory international development programs focussed on GEDSI (within Indonesia desirable).
  • Ability to effectively manage a multi-disciplinary team of long and short term international and national advisers and sub-contractors, as well as a small support team of project and administrative staff.
  • A strong technical background in GEDSI ranging from policy and strategic advice to civil society engagement and activity implementation (within the infrastructure sector desirable).
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex and technical information to a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (and Bahasa Indonesia desirable). Demonstrated experience in briefing and working closely with senior government officials in a donor context.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds including people with disabilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the different needs of different stakeholders such as women, the elderly, people with disabilities and others with special mobility needs.

The Deputy Director – GEDSI role has been classified as D4 in the Australian Remuneration Framework (ARF).
