Cardno International Development is seeking expressions of interest for a dynamic individual to work across logistics, grants and finance, and administration on a Pacific-focussed international development program.

The Operations Officer will liaise with program teams, advisers, consultants and stakeholders to ensure activities are progressing and compliant to relevant policies and procedures, workplans and budgets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the recruitment and contract management of short- and long-term advisers, including the provision of advice on recruitment processes, mobilisation, payment of invoices and performance appraisals
  • Provide financial, logistical and capacity development support to others in the team as required. Support others in the team to undertake their tasks during busy periods, including support for travel and logistics, reporting and budgeting
  • Conduct grant management processes as required and ensure that all processes comply with Cardno’s policies and procedures, including the review of financial reports against grant agreements and grant acquittals.
  • Provide support on the due diligence checks of potential grantees and partners, including or new or potential partner organisations, undertake thorough and complete due diligence organisation capacity, operational systems, and financial governance reviews
  • Assume the role of Occupational Health, Safety (OHS) and Security focal point, including providing advice to the team, and contracted advisers, for travel throughout the region
  • Monitor and liaise with vendors/service providers to ensure all payments and invoicing program cash flow and budgeting information is current and accurate

To be successful in this role, you will present with the following key attributes:

  • Experience working in a similar role, preferably in an international development context
  • Demonstrated experience in operations, administrative and logistics support
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement including grant management and contract management
  • High level of computing skills with experience in word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively at a range of administrative and activity levels in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Strong organisational skills including planning, developing, implementing and maintaining administrative systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in liaising with a range of partners, stakeholders and vendors.
  • Demonstrated understanding of operational requirements in relation to child protection, gender equality and social inclusion and other cross-cutting issues.
  • Dynamic and flexible to be able to respond to changing priorities
  • An understanding of management information systems (desirable)
  • Experience with MYOB (desirable)
