About CareerSeekers

CareerSeekers is a non-profit social enterprise working with leading employers to create paid, professional internship opportunities for refugees and people seeking asylum. We help unleash the talent of refugees in Corporate Australia, while assisting employers to realise meaningful diversity aspirations. We work with both mid-career professionals eager to reignite their career in Australia, and university students seeking a pathway to graduate employment.

We have a track record of delivering outstanding results for both participants and employers. Around 80 of Australia’s most well known employers host our participants and nearly 90% of participants secure ongoing professional employment beyond their internship.

About the Role

The Senior Advisor role is key to ensuring CareerSeekers delivers positive experiences and beneficial outcomes for our participants and employment partners.

Senior Advisors support a caseload of participants as they progress through the CareerSeekers program. They also work closely with managers of interns, to make sure they are equipped to host their intern. Additionally, Senior Advisors may oversee some smaller employment partner relationships.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing the suitability of prospective participants
  • Coaching participants in the lead-up to internships, plus facilitating some group training
  • Developing profiles for participants, highlighting their skills and past experience, for consideration by employment partners
  • Briefing managers and other employer representatives on the CareerSeekers programs
  • Providing guidance to junior members of the team
  • Ensuring the internship program integrity is maintained, through setting objectives, reviewing intern progress reports, and maintaining regular contact with the intern and their manager
  • This role reports to the Program Director, and works closely with a team of other Advisors and Seniors Advisors.

About you

  • You are passionate about supporting refugees and people seeking asylum to achieve professional success
  • You can lean on your own professional experience to share insights about Corporate Australia
  • You understand the realities of working in a small organisation. You are flexible, take ownership of work and are persistent in finding solutions to challenges
  • You have strong organisational, administrative and computer skills (ideally in Google suite and MS Office), with strong attention to detail
  • You have a tertiary qualification (any discipline)

Whilst this role does not have management responsibilities, having a desire to grow into a management role will be viewed favourably.
