Help families maintain a safe home through specialist therapeutic support, case consulting and safety plans.

About the role

You will be focussed on helping vulnerable families establish and maintain a safe home environment free from violence and responsible for providing specialist, tailored therapeutic support for complex domestic and family violence cases. In all that you do, you will assist in decreasing the risk that families are exposed to.

Your daily duties will be diverse and will include:

  • Providing support, mentoring and advice to staff and families regarding domestic and family violence during initial referral, screening and during the course of ongoing case management
  • Conducting specialised risk assessments and safety planning
  • Coordinating the development of a single case plan in collaboration with the family, key community members and other service providers
  • Providing direct in-home support services to families, including after hours and on-call services as required
  • Working collaboratively with the Local Level Alliance and other key stakeholders (family members, counsellors, teachers, health professionals) through negotiation of a tailored intervention plan

About you

You are passionate about reducing the impacts and incidences of domestic violence in the community and looking out for those who are most vulnerable. You are recognised for your compassionate nature, approachability and well developed communication and leadership skills.

Your experience and qualifications for the role should include:

  • Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or a related discipline
  • Applied knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, specifically the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with children and families exhibiting complex and multiple support needs, specifically in relation to domestic and family violence
  • Ability to engage effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Current driver's licence
