CASPA Services Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation providing a range of specialised care services to support complex trauma-based needs for children, young people and families, people with disability, and people with mental illness. Our programs include Therapeutic Intensive Residential Care, Intensive Family Preservation, Therapeutic Foster Care, Restoration, and other associated care types, we are a registered NDIS provider and operate a social enterprise Maintenance and repairs business. We have approximately 500+ employees working in communities across NSW, Queensland, and the Northern Territory.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a great opportunity for Therapeutic Care Workers with experience working with (Youth) children, young people and/or families to join CASPA's Far North/Northern Rivers Coast Residential Care Team on a Part Time or Casual basis. Our Therapeutic Care Workers work directly with Youth in our Therapeutic Programs which include residential houses.

You will be expected to establish a therapeutic care environment and positively manage the young person’s behaviours by working within a multi-disciplinary team of therapists, psychologists, special educators, social workers and families to provide a homely environment at our residences.

We encourage our Youth to participate in the duties we carry out, which will include tasks such as living skills, engagement with education and community and working with NSW Police and Health services. Through their daily activities, you will assist by taking young people to their scheduled appointments and outings, this might include mentoring, also following individualised support plans and writing detailed reports. Our dedicated carers will work across 24/7 rotating rostered shifts, usually provided not less than 2 weeks ahead of time.

ARE YOU?

  • Proficient in safety plans for young people and attending mandatory training and meetings relating to child protection and therapeutic care plans
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in working in a residential house with several young people
  • Experienced in providing therapeutic trauma informed care to children, young people and/or families
  • Experienced in working with people with Autism/Intellectual Disability/Mental health issues
  • Experience working within a trauma informed work place with young people and their families
  • Experienced working with self harm, aggressive and threatening behaviours with the ability to use reflective methods for self care
  • Able to meet the writing, literacy and computer skills component for email communication and shift reports etc.
  • Able to understand teams and boundaries to keep your team safe.

In order to be considered for interview for the above positions, applicants must already have obtained a Paid Employee Working with Children Check, hold a current First Aid Certificate, and hold a current Australian Drivers License. Criminal History Checks are requirements for all child related employment at CASPA.

Minimum qualification level in this field would be acceptable at Certificate III level, however an expectation to gain Diploma level would be required once in the role.
