The Centre against Sexual Violence (CASV) Logan and Redlands is seeking a highly motivated sexual assault counsellor to join our dedicated and professional team. This is a fantastic opportunity to expand upon your existing skills, in helping to eliminate sexual violence in the Logan community.

The CASV exists to deliver responsive, high quality women’s (12 years and over) services to survivors of sexual violence in the Logan and Redlands Regions. CASV is committed to ending sexual violence against women and their children through healing, education and prevention. The CASV has an Enterprise Agreement with above award conditions.

The Role

To provide a high quality counselling and support service to women aged 19 years and over who have experienced past or recent rape and/or sexual assault. Including:

  • providing short and medium term counselling with women aged 19 and over who have experienced past sexual assault;
  • providing crisis response to women and young women (12 and over) who have experienced recent sexual assault;
  • providing support to clients through requisite medical and/or police procedures;
  • providing information and support to women’s support personnel, where appropriate;
  • conduct intake appointments with women and young women who are waiting to access ongoing counselling;

Selection Criteria to be addressed:

SC1. Demonstrated possession of tertiary qualifications and extensive experience relevant to the duties of the position.

SC2. Comprehensive understanding of the causes and effects of sexual violence against women.

SC3. Well-developed framework for the provision of high quality counselling services to women of diverse backgrounds and the ability to articulate the frameworks from a feminist perspective

SC4 Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and the capacity to deliver information to a broad cross section of people.

SC5. Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of: participative decision-making; planning and evaluation processes; effective team practices; and the principles of social justice.

  • Current Queensland Driver’s License
  • A Working with Children Check/Blue Card
