About the role

This position exists to provide effective, flexible, high-quality management of the intake process for the Child Youth and Family Services Team. The position holds clients for short periods of time until they are allocated to caseworkers or youth workers for more in depth support and coordinates the registration process for all group work. The Child, Youth and Family Services Team provides early intervention casework, youth work and groupwork support services to families with children and young people aged 0-18 and young people aged 12-24.

The position holder will work with families and young people with moderate needs and risk issues in Northern Sydney covering the Artarmon, Northern Beaches and Waitara Family Centres.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Engage with referrers, families and young people accessing the Family and Youth Services Team and assess client needs and suitability for the respective programs.
  • Manage the intake process, waitlists, and data
  • Uphold child protection requirements in accordance with legislation and CatholicCare policies and procedures
  • Provide professional and informed advice and information to meet clients’ needs these may include matters such as parenting, health and social well-being, legal issues, employment and education, budgeting and finance etc.
  • Work collaboratively with local community networks and liaise successfully with a range of organisations and individuals.
  • Work effectively with clients to access the right services when they present with more immediate needs

About you

To be considered for this role you will:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate area eg, social work, social science, welfare, psychology, health, education or related discipline;
  • Demonstrated experience working and engaging with individuals and their families;
  • Knowledge of social issues such as housing, domestic violence, child protection, child development and, financial hardship;
  • Current NSW driver’s license and access to comprehensively insured car.
