CatholicCare NT is a Catholic social service agency established in the Diocese of Darwin. We provide services throughout the NT, including service centres in Darwin, Palmerston, Malak, Tiwi Islands, Daly River, Wadeye, Jabiru, Maningrida, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Santa Teresa, Titjikala, Finke and APY lands.
Our Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) remote service aims to improve the lives of those exposed to harm due to AOD misuse. Evidence-based support including CBT, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness-based approaches are provided. The service is family inclusive, culturally appropriate and uses a social and emotional wellbeing framework to support individual and community needs. A range of services are provided in the community to support treatment and care options to reduce harm, facilitate sustained recovery and support relapse prevention
You will be providing case management, counselling, education and AOD support in a remote community context across the Tiwi Islands. You will partner with participants, and broader community, to provide culturally informed, holistic support and to address AOD related harm.
This is a dynamic role and may take the form of casework, counselling, group work, community education and capacity building. This role has a focus on working with families and young people.

This position is classified as a mandatory worker position for the purpose of COVID-19 vaccines and directions issued by the NT Chief Health Officer.
Comprising Bathurst and Melville Islands, with a population of around 2500, the Tiwi Islands are only 80km north of Darwin. The islands are home to the Tiwi people, who have a strong affiliation with their land and a distinctive culture and language. There are school and medical facilities on the islands and regular plane, passenger ferry and barge services operating from Darwin.
The Tiwi Islands are known as 'the islands of smiles'. The Tiwi people are internationally renowned for their individual style of art including carvings and bright textile designs. Prized by collectors, many Tiwi artists have exhibited around the world.

Employment is subject to obtaining a satisfactory National police check and Working with Children (Ochre) Card.
If you have resided in an overseas country for 12 months or more in the past 10 years, this position requires you to complete an International Criminal History check (ICHC) prior to you employment commencement date. The outcome of the initial screening check must be satisfactory.
