Finance & Human Resources Assistant

The purpose of this position is to assist the Finance and Human Resources teams in meeting the organisation’s finance, payroll and human resources operational requirements under the direction of Head of Finance.

Responsibilities

Assist the Human Resources Coordinator/Manager in day-to-day HR tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Recruitment process, such as: job postings, screening and interview process administration
  • Onboarding, such as: organising new employee’s documents, setting up employee in the payroll and HR systems or assisting with new employee induction
  • Assisting in maintenance of employees classification as per the different Awards used within the organisation including progressions and audits
  • General Human Resources support, such as: maintaining personnel files, compliance records, and conducting ongoing audits of files

Responsible to process payroll and all payroll related tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Fortnightly payroll process
  • Monthly superannuation payments
  • Managing employees benefits and salary packaging including liaising with Access Pay
  • Processing payroll journals in the financial system
  • Working closely with the accountant in finalising payroll related accounts on a monthly and yearly basis
  • Managing PAYG/IAS submission
  • Responding to payroll queries within the organisation
  • Liaising with the ATO, superannuation funds, and other stakeholders re payroll matters

Other ad hoc projects as requested by Head of Finance or HR Coordinator/Manager

Selection Criteria

Position Specific:

  • Tertiary or vocational qualification in Business, Commerce, Accounting/Finance/HR or as deemed relevant by Catholic Care
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in payroll or human resources positions
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector
  • Experience working with the SCHADS/Children Services/Supported Employment Awards
  • Experience in using payroll, finance or HR systems

General:

  • Demonstrated high-level computer skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Proven ability and willingness to work collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven exceptional interpersonal, problem solving and time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a high volume and deadline driven environment whilst maintaining a high standard of work.
