Our Next Step service is growing and we're looking for enthusiastic clinicians to join our multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals.

About The Program

The Next Step program provides psychological interventions to adults and children experiencing mental health issues. Next Step is based on the Improving Access to Psychological Therapy initiative in the UK and provides evidenced based CBT via disorder specific models.

All new clinicians participate in a comprehensive, 12 month training and supervision programme which allows our clinicians to develop significant expertise in working within this framework.

CatholicCare is pioneering an Australian first program and has seen overwhelming demand for this service. As such we are we are looking for new clinicians to join the program, called Next Step. We have positions available for clinicians who are looking to develop their skills and expertise in delivering CBT via disorder specific models to adults and young people.

The Role

The key responsibilities for the Mental Health clinician will be to provide therapeutic interventions to adults and young people with mental health issues. Clinicians will be required to work from the CBT approach described in the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies framework. Staff receive 12 months of training and ongoing supervision in this model.

Selection Criteria

The ideal person we are looking for has:

Relevant accreditation including one of the following; 1) General Registration with APHRA as a psychologist, both generally registered psychologists and clinical psychologists; 2) accreditation as a mental health social worker with AASW, 3) a credentialed mental health nurse with ACMHN; 4) a Better Access to Mental Health endorsed Occupational Therapist.

  • Demonstrated skills and experience working in the mental health sector with individuals.
  • Commitment to and proficiency delivering evidence-based interventions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, and good time management skills.
