Gift in Wills Officer

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the international mission agency of the Catholic Church in Australia, which supports children, communities and church leaders both in Australia and overseas. Catholic Mission’s Gifts in Wills program plays a vital role in our Fundraising program and is pivotal in helping acquire, grow, and steward bequestors for CM’s work, and to achieve CM’s mission.

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, the primary focus of this job is:

  1. Program Management: work with the Fundraising Manager and other internal and external stakeholders to lead and deliver all facets of Catholic Mission’s (CM) Gifts in Wills program.
  2. Growth: actively grow the number of confirmed bequestors in line with CM’s strategy.
  3. Engagement: steward bequestors effectively, ensuring long-term interest in CM’s mission.
  4. Connection: collaborate with CM staff and suppliers to deliver CM’s Gifts in Wills program.
  5. Improvement: look at new ways to strengthen and grow the Gifts in Wills program.

To Succeed in this Role

You will need: to be eligible to work in Australia; to have an understanding and appreciation of the role of the Catholic Church in mission; to have an understanding of the not-for-profit sector; to hold a relevant business, marketing or fundraising qualification and a minimum of 3 years of experience with gifts and wills (bequests); to have experience leading meaningful engagement activities including high quality events and activities; a track record of effectiveness in achieving gift and wills performance targets; hold a current driver’s licence and be prepared to travel within Australia; to be prepared to work a flexible schedule.

You will also need: the ability and drive to conduct high volume outbound supporter calls and visits and be outcomes driven; the ability to gather market intelligence/best practice strategies from diverse sources and to apply this within the CM context; strong relationship, inter-personal and communication skills; experience in data analysis and in implementing findings to drive outcomes.

You will need to be: self-directed and motivated with a disciplined and determined approach; enthusiastic, resilient, adaptable and energetic; an excellent project manager with skills across a broad stakeholder group time management including but not limited to organisational ability (including setting priorities, establishing milestones, evaluation), following up and handling multiple tasks, data and trend analysis, problem solving, and decision making; a team player with the ability to collaborate (and lead collaboration) with and of others; have well-developed computer skills in business software and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications; and have an ability to work effectively under pressure with accuracy and an ability to produce quality work.
