ORGANISATION

ROLE

Newly created Database Specialist; responsible for maximising revenue by analysing and managing the donor database (Raiser’s Edge 7/NXT) and achieving CRM best practice. The role will also support end to end processes including processing donations and phone-based customer service.

You will play a vital role in providing crucial support to helping teams across the foundation achieve their objectives and income targets.

The role is busy and varied and will suit a data savvy person ideally with a broad level of fundraising/marketing experience.

Reporting to the Direct Marketing Manager and working with other team members, the database specialist role is pivotal to the success of the Foundation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide the team in maximising the value of the donor database system including basic training for new staff, creating and implementing data handling procedures/protocols, overseeing data entry and updating setup requirements, driving a data culture.
  • Prepare data strategies, including segmentation, to accurately target, personalise and maximise appeal and acquisition income.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end process of opening and sorting mail (during peak times this may be done by casual staff or volunteers under supervision), data-entering, producing banking, receipting and thanking existing supporters and donors in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
  • Build strong and trusted relationships with all Foundation staff to help advocate the use of data in all programs.
  • Create and manage relevant profiling and segmentation of all donors.
  • Develop and give targeting recommendations for all Foundation program areas.
  • Present findings from analyses in a clear and actionable format, using reports and data visualisation.
  • Work with the Direct Marketing Manager to produce queries, lists, exports and reports as required by the Foundation.
  • Oversee the ongoing development and maintenance of the donor database and other platforms to ensure operational efficiency including liaising with database suppliers and other technical consultants to resolve database issues.

YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Prior experience in a database management role essential ideally in a fundraising operational environment.
  • Raiser’s Edge, or similar database experience required. A sound understanding of the structural principles of databases.
  • Experience in coordinating administration and associated tasks in a fundraising, marketing or sales environment.
  • Self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude and solid communication skills.
  • A proven commitment to delivering excellent customer service to all supporters.
  • Ability to work harmoniously in a small team including the ability to keep team members informed about status of work and customer service expectations.
  • Interest in analysing and a flair for improving processes and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritise and good time-management skills.
  • Capacity to understand and interpret significant amounts of data.
  • Demonstrate motivation and initiative.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Good standard of written and verbal communication.
