ORGANISATION

The Garvan Research Foundation (GRF) is the fundraising and marketing arm of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and provides financial support to the Institutes’ medical research programs. The Foundation also delivers Garvan’s public engagement and awareness activities.

The remarkable success of the Foundation’s activities is having a catalytic impact on the Institute’s ability to make scientific contributions that will ultimately lead to earlier diagnosis, better treatments and prevention or cure of a range of diseases.

ROLE

Exciting opportunity for an events coordinator responsible for providing professional event management services for the Foundation and supporting internal and external events of the Institute.

Reporting to the GRF Executive Officer, the role will work closely with the entire GRF team (across Marketing and Fundraising) and assist all teams and the Executive Management Committee to deliver bespoke high-quality events for supporters whilst providing administration support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist all teams and the Executive Management Committee to deliver bespoke high-quality events for major donors and supporters
  • Develop positive relationships with caterers, venues and other suppliers
  • Complete risk assessment and management for events with post event analysis, providing logistical event end to end support
  • Provide day to day administrative support to the GRF Director, Deputy Director and Leadership team including maintain office printers and computers and other office duties
  • Booking meeting rooms, meeting and Private Discovery Tour support and assist Public Engagement Program
  • Responsible for all internal and external request for events assistance

YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing and/or fundraising events favourable but not essential.
  • Driver’s license required
  • Positive can-do attitude with strong work ethic and ability to manage relationships.
  • Excellent database skills with some track record of events management skills acquired
  • Excellent project planning skills with exceptional multi-tasking skills and ability to work to deadlines
  • Proven ability to maintain good relationships
  • Good problem-solving abilities with ability to make appropriate financial and customer service decision.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy, including ability to organize online events/webinars using zoom
  • Ability to work harmoniously as part of a team
  • Great initiative and curiosity with ability to work flexible hours.
