ROLE

As Philanthropy Manager, you will use your strategic fundraising/revenue generation experience to implement and drive support and engagement from high-value donors/audiences, focusing on major donors, trusts, foundations and partners.

Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, you will play a vital role in delivering the major gifts program. You'll exercise your finesse in building strong collaborative relationships with new and existing donors and have the opportunity to be creative and be part of launching new capital campaigns.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement major gift program
  • Cultivate and steward new major donor prospects, developing and implementing fundraising strategies for major gift, trusts, foundations and partners.
  • Grow the Major Gifts income stream year on year to sustain and extend the reach of their deliverables.
  • Personally manage donor prospects with effective moves management to qualify prospects & manage pipeline
  • Exercise skill in superior internal and external stakeholder management
  • Work with Head of Philanthropy and Director of Development in the development and management of prospective gifts
  • Manage donor recognition programs in line with matrix, policies and procedures, reporting on projects
  • Attend appropriate events, represent the organisation internally and externally.

YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Previous experience in fundraising will be highly regarded (major gift fundraising preferred). Alternatively, an experienced and well-connected business development, sales and marketing professional looking to work within the NFP Sector with transferable skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve financial targets and a track record of securing major gifts/grants from high net-worth individuals and trusts/foundations.
  • Proven experience in successful proposal development and philanthropic grant management.
  • Knowledge of wider donor management and stewardship including direct marketing
  • Ability to articulate complex issues in a compelling and persuasive manner to present a pitch with confidence
  • Polished writing skills, with experience of adapting the style of writing to a range of different communications and audiences
  • Experience liaising with design agencies and printers to produce promotional collateral.
  • Practised in managing a prospect/sales pipeline using Dynamics or a similar database platform.
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills and the ability to 'close the deal'.
  • Exceptional presentation skills and natural networker comfortable liaising at all levels.
  • Awareness and understanding of best practice fundraising and recent trends and guidance in relation to major donor fundraising.
  • Competent in the use of desktop applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Positive can-do attitude with strong work ethic and ability to manage relationships.
