Project Support Officer

Community Broadcasting Association of Australia
  • Part time opportunity – 16-20 hours per week
  • A wide range of tasks, playing a key role in building strong and successful organisations
  • Alexandria, NSW or remote working options available

The Organisation

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) is a leading member based, for purpose organisation. We provide programs and services that aim to strengthen over 450 community radio, local and independent media organisations.

With over five million listeners each week, community radio plays a vital role in providing a voice for multicultural, First Nations and other underrepresented groups, as well as supporting independent and emerging musicians, and communities not adequately serviced by other media services.

CBAA manages RPH Australia – the peak organisation for the RPH Radio Reading Network, empowering Australians with a print disability through community media. Throughout Australia, the RPH Network provides radio services focused on the reading of popular publications. It consists of 17 AM/FM radio stations nationally, a VAST satellite service and DAB+ digital radio services in the eight capital cities. Radio Reading Network services empower all Australians to participate in the community’s political, cultural and social life.

The Role

You will help us work with members by providing a range of project support and coordination activities. You have a good eye for detail and gain satisfaction when communicating with a broad range of stakeholders.

Your day-to-day tasks will vary a lot, but you will be focused on making community radio stations, which provide radio reading services, stronger and even more successful – and helping educate more stations on the value of radio reading programs.

You will be responsible for:

  • Stakeholder management and engagement.
  • Assisting in the preparation of funding submissions, progress reports, and funding acquittals.
  • Support services to assist RPH Australia with its marketing and community relationship needs, including maintaining the RPH Australia website, social media and online resources.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary degree or equivalent work experience
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience of living with disability
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrable ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly developed writing skills and formatting suited for drafting correspondence, reports and professional documents
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and maintenance of web content and social media platforms
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Experience within not-for-profit, community based or membership-based organisations
  • Eligibility to work in Australia on a permanent basis

It would also be great, but not essential, if you had experience working with a diverse range of community broadcasters, particularly those providing Radio Reading Services.

If you are seeking an opportunity to make an impact in an organisation that makes a real difference, this is the role for you.

Application Process

We are committed to improving outcomes for our communities, and value diversity and inclusion. We actively seek and welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds and with lived experience in the communities we aim to serve (including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with a disability, culturally and linguistically diverse people, the LGBTQIA+ community and people of diverse genders and faiths).

We are happy to consider flexible employment arrangements, including other locations and virtual/hybrid work arrangements for the right candidate.

To apply submit your resume (max three pages) and a cover letter (max one page) addressing the requirements and reason for application to the CEO. Successful applicants will be contacted for interview.

Please note that there is no formal closing date for this role. Early applications are encouraged, and suitable candidates may be shortlisted for interview as applications are received.
