About C Care:

Established in 2011, C Care is a leading NFP whose mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged individuals by giving them a hand-up in a dignified way, through the provision of nutritious food and warm friendship to now more than 1000 people each week with a significant increase in demand over COVID.

The C Care team, largely volunteer-driven, work hard to produce hundreds of meals and food packages each week for our recipient community.

At C Care we work to make every client feel a sense of dignity, respect, inclusion as a result of C Care’s tailored care.

Volunteers are the soul of C Care and a community of 1500 strong and growing. Volunteers have a front seat in the core work of C Care and as a result can see and understand the impact they are having with every session.

The Role

Exciting opportunity for the right candidate to step into a well-established and rapidly growing food security organisation and lead our food production program. Services currently include 600 cook-chill 3 course balanced nutritious meals each week and growing daily.

You will be responsible for the end to end process including planning and setting menus, order projection, scheduling volunteer activities, food preparation, distribution, reporting, and importantly safety of this process.

Building on the strong foundation of our current food production program this is an opportunity to step it up a notch and lead this program into its next phase with improved safety measures, processes, packaging, presentation and end user experience.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan forecast schedule and manage the food production program at C Care
  • Cater for the general and individual dietary needs
  • Manage end to end process from planning to home delivery
  • OH&S management of all activities in food production program
  • Maintain kitchen safety standards and cleanliness
  • Maintain cool rooms/freezers and food stores
  • Refine and improve kitchen operational procedures
  • Adjust menus to reflect donated ingredient availability (seasonal ingredients)
  • Lead cooking session by managing volunteers in the preparation, cooking, packing & safe transport of meals
  • Identify, plan and implement process improvements, to deliver optimised meal yields and time saving initiatives
  • Attendance at team meetings as required
  • Working as a crucial team member across the organisation
  • Any other ad hoc tasks and initiatives as advised by the Director

The Ideal Candidate

  • HACCP knowledge/experience
  • Background in the food/catering/hospitality space (required)
  • Experience working with and managing volunteers (desired)
  • Ability to work Sundays (desired)
  • Chef/Cook experience (desired)
  • Commercial skills – the ability to match what’s available, to what’s produced
  • Patience and flexibility
  • Passionate about the not-for-profit sector and helping the community
  • Ability to work independently, whilst taking direction
  • Eagerness to work as a team
