The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading national body with a 25 year history of funding game-changing breast cancer research. Donor support, fundraising and partnerships are pivotal to our work. Of 56,000 charities in Australia, the National Breast Cancer Foundation is in the top 40 by turnover and in the top 10 trusted brands.

Nine people lose their lives to breast cancer each day in Australia. NBCF strives to achieve its mission and stop deaths from breast cancer by identifying, funding and championing research that will detect tumours earlier and improve treatment outcomes of the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia.

Key opportunities for the new CEO will be to lead the development of a Strategic plan, to use innovation to grow funding, to direct strategic research investment through the development of a 5 year Research plan, and build on the inherent strengths of the organisation, including its reputation as one of Australia’s most trusted brands.

The CEO will be responsible for aligning resources to the organisation’s strategy, working closely with the Board of Directors and leading a highly talented and engaged team.

We are seeking an outstanding and inspiring leader with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • A career record in a sector that will have credibility with stakeholders such as not-for-profit, health, scientific research.
  • Demonstrated successful organisational leadership experience
  • Experience in corporate governance and engaging with and influencing Boards
  • A track record in fostering a positive culture that retains and attracts talent
  • Ability to inspire and stretch people and bring them on the journey
  • Excellent communication skills including media experience

The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and networking skills, negotiation skills and the ability to build lasting relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
