Central Coast Family Support Services Inc. is currently seeking tertiary qualified self-motivated individuals who can demonstrate experience working collaboratively with children and families in their communities to identify strengths, mitigate risk factors, increase capacity for resilience and promote positive relationships.

This not for profit organisation has been supporting families across the Central Coast region since 1985. The organisation delivers a variety of services to families with children of all ages. Due to an increased funding opportunity, we are currently seeking enthusiastic self-starting individuals to join our team to deliver a combination of case management and course work facilitation to families living throughout the Central Coast region.

About the Role

Early intervention family case work provides case management services with families to build on strengths and enhance the well being of all family members.

Working collaboratively with CCFSS team members, this work uses one-on-one interventions with families through home visiting and community work in achieving positive outcomes. Suitable applicants will possess skills and understanding of the issues related to families, children and young people in the areas of family functioning, parent/child relationships, parenting skill development, child development and the effects of trauma. Family case work involves the provision of timely advice, information and referral across a variety of areas of focus.

Course work facilitation involves the delivery of evidence based and informal group work programs with a focus on parenting education and skill building. Some informal peer support group work facilitation is also a function of this role.

Family caseworkers conduct family risk and protective factor assessments to determine issues impacting upon the functioning of the family and work through and early intervention framework to establish plans and set family centred goals. Family support activities will promote the development of competencies and capacities that enable families and their members to have control over important aspects of their lives and to relate more effectively.

This position has a designated role to:

  • be an advocate providing practical and targeted support
  • offer specialised knowledge and skills concerning family and child issues
  • facilitate families’ ongoing access to advice, information and resources
  • enable parents to develop and build on the skills they need in order to be advocates for themselves and their children
  • provide avenues for families to contribute to the life and development of their community

Hours and days of work are flexible, ideally we are looking at a 21 hour per week position however this is negotiable to suit the right applicant.

Positions are covered by the SCHADS award, with fringe benefit salary packaging offered to increase your take home pay.
