About the team

This role sits within the Community Engagement team who works at a local level to form sustainable relationships to ensure Cancer Council NSW have a visible and relevant presence in community and can effectively respond to our communities' insights and needs.

Based primarily in our Woolloomooloo office with flexibility to work from home the role will cover communities across the Metropolitan Sydney region. This role requires excellent relationship management skills, experience in fundraising and an ability to use data and local insights to optimise fundraising efforts.

About the role

Internally this role is known as Community Relations Coordinator and has key fundraising responsibilities across the community.

  • Identify, build and maintain relationships with supporters and key community stakeholders to effectively deliver community fundraising initiatives
  • Support the development and local execution of operational plans to optimise community fundraising and supporter experience
  • Monitor local supporter and community fundraising insights to ensure effective and efficient response to challenges and opportunities
  • Collaborate with local team and key internal stakeholders to integrate impact of Cancer Council programs and services into fundraising initiatives
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key roles across CCNSW
  • Recruit, coach and manage volunteers to support Cancer Council in the delivery of fundraising initiatives
  • Inspire volunteers through recognition and learning and development opportunities

About You

  • Existing fundraising background OR an experienced events professional looking to diversify their career
  • Sound understanding of relationship management and community engagement
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to adapt
  • Well-developed organisation and project management skills
  • Experience in working effectively with volunteers, committees and/or community groups
  • High level computer literacy in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with priority populations and experience in developing the public profile of a community-based fundraising initiative, will be looked on favourably
