About the team

This role sits within the Community Engagement team who works at a local level to form sustainable relationships to ensure CCNSW have a visible and relevant presence in community and can effectively respond to our communities’ insights and needs.

Based primarily in our Parramatta office with flexibility to work from home the role will cover communities across the Greater Western Sydney region. This role has a focus on internal and external relationships and partnerships; management of volunteers; and community engagement principles and practices.

About the role

  • Identification of gaps in service provision for people affected by cancer and assessing organisational and local capacity to address the need for new or additional programs and/or support services
  • Build and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders including priority populations to effectively gather and utilise community insights to implement Cancer Council programs and services.
  • Community program coordination, including planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of programs and projects
  • Media liaison
  • Facilitating the implementation of cancer prevention, information, support and advocacy programs, ensuring demonstrative support.
  • Create ongoing opportunities for volunteers to participate in the development, prioritisation and delivery of CCNSW programs

About You

  • Demonstrated success in the engagement and development of strong and effective relationships with health and community care professionals, and government and non-government organisations.
  • Success in the development of the public profile of a community-based organisation/program.
  • Experience engaging local communities/organisations to support a cause related issue.
  • Understanding of the practical support and emotional needs of cancer patients, their families and friends.
  • The ability to travel around the regional area as needed to support and grow community engagement.
