About the team

This role sits within the Community Engagement (CE) division who works at a local level to form sustainable relationships to ensure Cancer Council NSW have a visible and relevant presence in community and can effectively respond to our communities’ insights and needs.

This is a key role within the Operations team of the CE division, managing identified projects and working in collaboration with key stakeholders both across the organisation and externally, to support efficient and effective community engagement.

About the role

The Divisional Project Lead is responsible for managing identified priority projects and operations to support efficient and effective divisional and inter-divisional working.

In particular, this role will play a leading and critical role in a Cancer Council project centred around Cancer Council’s Transport to Treatment service. Transport to Treatment is a practical support service delivered across NSW, assisting cancer patients travel to their cancer treatment.

Over the last 18 months, a cross divisional team at Cancer Council NSW has been working on optimising the operating model of how Transport to Treatment is delivered in community across the state. With recommendations due to be delivered in late January 2022, this role will be responsible for spear heading the implementation phase of the project, working with a variety of stakeholders to roll out the proposed solutions.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Lead identified key strategic projects across the division or organisation which support consistent, efficient and effective working
  • Consult with key internal stakeholders including senior leadership during the development and implementation of priority projects
  • Effectively manage key stakeholders, both within CE and across the organisation, through the implementation of change
  • Monitor and report against project progress
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on existing business systems and procedures to ensure continuous improvement and effectiveness for a dispersed workforce
  • Work collaboratively across the division and organisation to involve expert contributors to optimise project outcomes

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, operational improvement or a similar role
  • Experience in leading and delivering large-scale projects
  • Experience in change management and taking stakeholders on a journey
  • Well-developed planning, implementation, reporting and tracking skills
  • Excellent ability to develop systems and processes to support efficient and effective operations
  • Sound financial and business acumen
  • A sound understanding of relationship management and community engagement and the ability to translate this into an achievable way of working
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure, work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities across multiple teams
  • Visible enthusiasm and passion for Cancer Council NSW’s vision, mission and values
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with dispersed teams via email, video conference and phone, in addition to face-to-face interactions
