About the role

PalAssist is a Queensland wide online and telephone service that is free for anyone who has a life-limiting illness or condition and/or their families and carers, available 7 am-7 pm, 7 days a week. We provide accurate information, referral advice and compassionate support to those dealing with any life-limiting or terminal illness.

PalAssist is operated by a team of experienced nurses and allied health professionals. We understand that every person’s journey is different and offer individualised support and advice to our clients. PalAssist is funded by Queensland Health and provided by Cancer Council Queensland.

The Advisor, PalAssist is responsible for supporting the service delivery of PalAssist, a free Queensland-wide online and telephone service that provides accurate information, referral advice and compassionate support to those dealing with a life-limiting or terminal illness; their families, friends and caregivers; in addition to providing information and support to health professionals.

The PalAssist service operates between 7 am to 7 pm, 7 days a week. This part-time position (16.5 hours/week) provides an opportunity for a skilled and compassionate health professional to support clients with a life-limiting illness or condition, their families and carers.

Rotational Rostered hours will be between 7 am – 7 pm, 7 days a week.

This role is a fixed-term contract, part-time position (16.5 hours per week).

About you

To be successful, you must have a tertiary qualification in nursing or allied health and equivalent experience or postgraduate qualifications in palliative care, Current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration or membership of the respective professional body.

You will have experience in providing psychosocial care to people with a life-limiting or terminal illness, including cancer and health system navigation throughout Queensland.
