About the role

This is a great opportunity to use your knowledge of palliative care delivery, health system navigation and the Queensland palliative care sector, in a telephone-based role, speaking to Queenslanders seeking palliative care information, advice and support.

PalAssist is a Queensland wide online and telephone service that is free for anyone who has a life limiting illness or condition, and/or their families and carers, available 7am-7pm, 7 days a week. We provide accurate information, referral advice and compassionate support to those dealing with any life-limiting or terminal illness.

PalAssist is operated by a team of experienced nurses and allied health professionals. We understand that every person’s journey is different and offer individualised support and advice to our clients. PalAssist is funded by Queensland Health and provided by Cancer Council Queensland.

The Advisor, PalAssist is responsible for supporting the service delivery of PalAssist, a free Queensland-wide online and telephone service that provides accurate information, referral advice and compassionate support to those dealing with a life limiting or terminal illness; their families, friends and caregivers; in addition to providing information and support to health professionals.

The PalAssist service operates between 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. This part-time position (19.25 hours/week) provides an opportunity for a skilled and compassionate health professional to support clients with a life limiting illness or condition, their families and carers.

Rotational Rostered hours will be between 7am – 7pm, 7 days a week.

This role is a fixed-term contract, part-time position (38.5 hours per fortnight).

About you

To be successful, you must have a tertiary qualification in nursing or allied health and equivalent experience or post graduate qualifications in palliative care, Current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration or membership of respective professional body.

You will have experience in providing psychosocial care to people with a life limiting or terminal illness, including cancer, and health system navigation throughout Queensland.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Qualifications in Nursing or Allied Health
  • Current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration or membership of respective professional body.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience, or post graduate qualifications, in Palliative Care.
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence is required.

Desirable

  • Highly desirable to have experience in health system navigation across Queensland
