About the role

The Campaigns and Community Engagement team delivers National, State Peer to Peer Campaigns, Third Party Beneficiaries, Fundraising Events, Community Fundraising and Community Engagement across Queensland such as Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Daffodil Day and Relay for Life.

As the Community Development Specialist, you will be responsible for strategically driving supporter acquisition and growing community engagement and relationships to connect Cancer Council Queensland’s (CCQ) within your geographic region in order to meet fundraising and community engagement objectives. You will be working collaboratively with the Community Engagement Coordinator and supporting teams.

As the Community Development Specialist, you will be a professional in connecting CCQ with the community through building new long-term mutually beneficial relationships, promoting CCQ fundraising programs and services, resulting in meeting fundraising and community objectives and targets. You will be working closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator to ensure our supporters, volunteers and community engagement opportunities are front of mind, knowing you have a great team that supports you. This role is a Permanent Full-time (37.5 hours per week) and requires out of hours travel times.

About you

If you are a people person, a networking guru and love to bring people together please keep reading;

  • You are a networking guru with an ability to manage and expand existing networks along with identifying and establishing new networks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including well-developed public speaking skills.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and work within tight timeframes.
  • Self-motivated leader with a high level of initiative, and the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Prior work experience with volunteers, fundraising and events is highly regarded with the ability to recruit, motivate and coordinate accordingly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely and effectively in a team, as well as be autonomously self-driven.
  • Understanding of, or commitment to the charitable sector is advantageous
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community engagement, fundraising principles and techniques
