Your Role

The Manager, Health and Community Relationships will be responsible for leading the state-wide coordination, development and management of Public-Private and community hospital and health services relationships, including Primary Health Networks. This role will provide leadership to a statewide team to increase Cancer Council Queensland’s presence across Queensland and to increase awareness and access to CCQ Support and Information Programs and Services.

Your Contribution

  • Manage the recruitment, training and supervision of Health and Community Relationships team members to drive outcomes aligned with CCQ’s strategic plan
  • Develop and implement frameworks, processes and procedures for evidence-based engagement to support service and program promotion.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of regionally specific health and community engagement to increase awareness and referrals to Cancer Council Queensland’s programs and services.
  • Develop, monitor and report team outcomes and activity in line with established key performance indicators and develop continuous improvement and evaluation strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with Managers across Cancer Support and Information to provide consistent key messaging regarding programs and services, contribute to evidence-based program development and delivery of innovative information sessions (face to face and virtual)
  • Manage, monitor and report on program/service budgets, income and expenditure including expenditure approvals, budget preparation and use of sound financial procedures.
  • Build networks and community awareness through the engagement of key stakeholders including clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals, community groups, and local businesses to improve uptake of CCQ’s programs and services to meet strategic priorities.
  • Contribute to organisational leadership initiatives fostering cross-departmental collaboration to promote opportunities for community engagement, program and service development and volunteering.

Your Leadership Contribution

CCQ has a Leadership Capability Framework which outlines the necessary capabilities of leaders for the four different leadership levels: Executive (CEO and GMs), Senior Managers, Managers, and Frontline Managers (Team Leaders and Senior Coordinators).

  • The capabilities fall under three core capability groups: Vision and Strategy, Driving Outcomes, Attributes and Behaviours.
  • The framework also provides an overview of leadership through Leadership Balance, Focus for Success and Decision Horizons for each leadership level.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Qualifications in health, health promotion, education or community development.
  • Experience in managing a diverse team both locally and remotely, including supervision, coaching and guiding team members to deliver outcomes.
  • Knowledge and experience in liaising with volunteers and volunteering programs.
  • Experience with program management and/or community engagement including planning, promotion, implementation and evaluation
  • An ability to manage and expand existing networks whilst identifying and establishing new opportunities.
  • An understanding of the impact that the diagnosis and treatment of cancer has on individuals, their partners and families.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of the community.
  • Proven ability to organise, manage and prioritise multiple tasks.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Well-developed administration skills, including intermediate computer skills.
  • A current Queensland Driver Licence is required.

Position Requirements

  • Conduct activities in accordance with Cancer Council Queensland policies, procedures and management instruction as and when required.
  • A key component of this role is the provision and maintenance of a working environment that is safe and without risks to health, safety and wellbeing, including safe access for entry and exit from the workplace.
  • You are to take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your action or inaction. This includes complying, so far as reasonably able, with any reasonable instruction from CCQ as well as cooperating with any reasonable requirements relating to health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with your team in pursuit of the overall organisational mission.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of Cancer Council Queensland to ensure support of, and excellence in, the delivery of all Cancer Council promotions and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

Position Conditions

  • Permanent, Part-time
  • Hours of work: Required to work 30 hours per week to cover business requirements, at the time you may be required to work outside regular business hours to attend events, meetings or presentations on evenings or weekends.
  • Travel: Regular travel is required.
