This position sits within the Inquiries and Engagement Team. This team is responsible for conducting child death, individual and group inquiries as well as systemic inquiries. The team also leads the Commission’s work in relation to engagement with children and young people

Reporting to the Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and conducting inquiries including child death inquiries and individual inquiries. The Senior Review and Inquiries Officers will typically manage an individual case load of child death inquiries as well as assisting in the preparation of systemic inquiries as part of small inquiry teams. The successful candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical skills. An understanding of the child protection, out of home care and youth justice systems is an advantage. The role reports to the team leader, inquiries and engagement.

About the Commission 

The Commission is an independent statutory body that promotes improvement in policies and practices affecting the safety and wellbeing of Victorian children and young people. It has a particular focus on vulnerable children and young people. 

This position sits within the Inquiries and Engagement Team. This team is responsible for conducting child death, individual and group inquiries as well as systemic inquiries. The team also leads the Commission’s work in relation to engagement with children and young people.

The Commission is currently working remotely due to COVID-19.

About the opportunity

  • Conduct child death, individual and systemic inquiries under the supervision of team leader and manager
  • Work with other team members on continuous improvement of the inquiry process
  • Contribute to Commission wide planning processes

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Exceptional written communication skills and experience in producing complex reports within agreed timeframes
  • An ability to manage a case load of child death inquiries of different sizes and complexity while also assisting on larger systemic inquiry work within agreed timeframes
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
