Our Research & Policy team has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Policy Advisor who will undertake research and policy analysis to advance CEDA’s Public Interest Technology (PIT) agenda for 2022. Based in either our Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne office , you will provide strategic advice and assistance to the Chief Economist focused on leveraging insights from members and industry stakeholders to formulate practical evidence-based policy recommendations that contribute to CEDA’s rigorous, independent research and policy work. Your high-level stakeholder experience will enable you to work collaboratively with our CEO, Chief Economist and PIT Member Advisory Council, along with our nationally dispersed research & policy team to deliver various research programs focused on Business Dynamism and Competitiveness, Better Human Services and Migration.

Your day to day activities will be focused on:

  • Overseeing the operating of the PIT Advisory Committee and enabling members to provide feedback.
  • Managing and delivering research projects within tight timeframes, including scoping policy issues, identifying and engaging key stakeholders.
  • Conducting research and analysis of complex policy and economics issues affecting Australia, including formulating practical evidence-based policy recommendations.
  • Communicating findings in written form and verbally in an insightful and accessible manner, while tailoring the findings to particular audiences.
  • Engaging with the programming team to provide ideas and topics aligned with CEDA research.
  • Working closely with the membership team to increase member awareness, engagement and involvement in CEDA’s research program.
  • Managing internal stakeholder relationships to facilitate project outcomes and meet internal deadlines.
  • Assume hosting/MC role in Leadership Team absence at public events and in digital forums.

You’ll love this role if you have:

  • 5+ years government or policy experience;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably in economics, data or a policy related discipline;
  • Experience and confidence in public speaking;
  • Extensive influencing and high-level relationship capabilities with senior executive and stakeholders;
  • Experience and commitment to working with a multifunctional, multidisciplinary national collegiate;
  • Self-starter with a keen interest in and extensive understanding of current and emerging public policy issues, particularly related to technology;
  • Critical thinker with strong commercial acumen;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
