Minerals and Energy Officer - Alice Springs

The Central Land Council (CLC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people across the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres.

The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

We are currently seeking a suitable qualified candidate for the following position:

Minerals and Energy Officer - MI006 and MI007 - Alice Springs

CL 5 - CL 6 (Commencing at $71,156 progressing to $88,283)

Based in Alice Springs, but with regular remote fieldwork, this role will represent and promote the interests of traditional Aboriginal owners with respect to minerals and energy development proposals on their land. Achieve sustainable and beneficial outcomes for traditional Aboriginal owners and native title holders and affected Aboriginal communities by ensuring the CLC's statutory functions under the Aboriginal Land Rights (NT) Act and Native Title Act are carried out efficiently and effectively. This role works closely with the CLC anthropology and legal sections to conduct effective consultations to ensure that Aboriginal people in central Australia are able to make informed decisions about development. You will have strong contract management and facilitation skills, preferably with experience explaining difficult concepts cross-culturally, and a willingness to work flexibly in a team, and on your own. A good understanding of the resources industry is highly favourable.

Total effective package includes: base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance and salary packaging options. Annual progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Progression is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
