The Central Land Council (CLC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people across the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres.

The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

We are currently seeking a suitable qualified candidate for the following position:

About the role

CL 5 - CL6 (Commencing at base salary $71,156 progressing to $88,283)

Based in Alice Springs, this position represents the aspirations of traditional owners for the use and management of their land in designated CLC regions and oversees responses to identified natural resource management (NRM) and sustainable land use issues affecting their interests.

With a passion for land management, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications and a demonstrated professional competence in land use planning, NRM and sustainable land use and management, ecology, environmental science or a related field. You will have experience or demonstrate familiarity with participatory planning or a related approach that enhances engagement in NRM, rural enterprise and/or community development planning and implementation.

  • Ongoing District allowance circa $3,100 for an individual or $5,670 with dependents;

  • Subsidised, fully furnished accommodation for the first 4 months.

Total effective package includes: base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance and salary packaging options. Annual progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Progression is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
