CLC'S STORY

The Central Land Council (CLC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people across the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres.

The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

Applicants must have qualifications and demonstrate essential criteria to be considered. An applicant selected under this affirmative action plan will be required to provide evidence of their eligibility prior to commencement, such as:

YOU ROLE:

CL 6 – SO B (Between $78,314 and $131,279 depending on experience) fixed term contract to 30 June 2025.

Based in Alice Springs, this position is a part of the team of lawyers forming the CLC Legal Section; including 6 dedicated regional lawyers together with 5 other specialist legal positions. The legal section provides representation and advice on a wide range of commercial and property matters to traditional owners and to the Council on issues arising under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976) and the Native Title Act 1993. The successful candidate must be eligible to be admitted to act as a legal practitioner in the NT.

Annual progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Progression is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
