An exciting opportunity has become available in the Clinical Biomarkers unit for a talented and ambitious postdoctoral clinician-scientist to join the team to tackle glaucoma. You will part of the research program which aims to develop new imaging and functional assessment techniques that will transform our ability to detect and predict glaucoma damage and its progression, and to better understand this condition.

About the role

  • This role will specifically involve overseeing the above mentioned research program, which involves conducting non-interventional clinical research studies in people with glaucoma and healthy people
  • The postholder will be expected to lead the team of clinical research coordinators / assistants, manage study recruitment and progress, be involved in performing the study assessments and data collection, and work with the Principal Investigator on data analyses and preparation of high-impact publications
  • There will also be potential opportunities to engage in other ongoing international and national collaborations, or develop new research projects, towards the goals of the research program
  • This position also aims to support the incumbent to become successful in future fellowship and grant applications (e.g., in receiving an NHMRC Investigator Grant)

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A tertiary clinical qualification in eye care (e.g., Optometry or Orthoptics) and doctoral level qualification in research (e.g., PhD)
  • Excellent research track record relative to opportunity (see NHMRC Investigator Grant Emerging Leadership assessment criteria)
