The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare (the Centre) is the peak body for child and family services in Victoria. For over 100 years we have advocated for the rights of children and young people to be heard, to be safe, to access education and to remain connected to family, community and culture. We represent over 150 community service organisations (CSOs), students and individuals throughout Victoria working across the continuum of child and family services, from prevention and early intervention to the provision of out-of-home care.

The Centre is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and we strengthen the capability of the sector through providing accredited and non-accredited learning and development.

Learning and Business Development Unit

The Learning and Business Development (LBD) Unit is responsible for the development and delivery of accredited and non-accredited learning and development opportunities to members and non-members, including dynamic online delivery and eLearning. The team works closely with the community services sector to identify and develop learning and development that reflects and leverages the Centre’s leadership role within the sector and meets industry needs. This team supports the Centre in its business development by managing a number of L&D projects and submitting funding and strategic submissions to stakeholders and funding providers.

Our goal is to deliver excellence in learning and development, strengthening the capability of the child, youth and family services’ workforce to deliver better outcomes for children, young people and families. Our strategic priorities are to:

  • Build the Centre’s readiness, including its systems and capacity, to deliver evidence-informed workforce capability building
  • Transform the sector through learning and development that changes practice systemically
  • Co-create learning and development content with practitioners, subject matter experts and experts by experience
  • Strengthening the knowledge and expertise of the sector through nationally accredited training.

the position

The Coordinator- Learning and Business Development (LBD), is responsible for planning and implementing learning and development (L&D) activity for Centre members and non-members; community service organisations delivering child, youth and family services, and allied workforces. Working closely with the Manager and LBD colleagues, the Coordinator-LBD will coordinate the design and delivery of L&D programs (classroom, virtual, e-learning and blended) to address the workforce capability needs of the sector and to ensure the Centre is maximising its potential as an L&D provider.

The Coordinator- LBD is responsible for the targeted marketing and enrolments for L&D programs delivered by the Centre’s LBD team. This position will help to sustain and increase our income and impact by nurturing professional relationships, finding ways to better support our members’ L&D needs, and identifying opportunities to position the Centre as a repeat L&D provider of choice.

Organisational Accountabilities

The Centre is committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of its staff. The Centre and its staff must comply with a range of statutory requirements including equal opportunity, occupational health and safety and privacy. The Centre requires staff to comply with its policies and procedures and related statutory requirements. Appointees are accountable for completing training on these matters and making sure their knowledge is up to date.

Key Accountabilities

The Coordinator- LBD is required to:

  • Coordinate the Centre’s L&D activities from beginning to end- including electronic marketing, registration, confirmation of participants, trainer liaison, session set up/ moderation, evaluation and reporting
  • Design, develop and disseminate marketing materials in consultation with the Centre’s Communications Team, including on WordPress and through the Centre’s LMS, to ensure a high-level of engagement and registrations for L&D sessions
  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure smooth registration processes and data capture for reporting – both for the Centre and our members
  • Analyse registration numbers and sector trends, and provide monthly reports on all L&D activities, including cost analysis
  • Ensure excellence in the design and delivery of learning content in a variety of mediums including face to face or virtual presentations, webinars, eLearning modules, on the job activities and learning collateral
  • Apply the LBD Quality Assurance framework and on an ongoing basis, assess how well L&D sessions are received and work with trainers to adjust delivery as necessary
  • Undertake training and learning needs analysis for the sector as required and coordinate the planning and implementation of annual L&D planning
  • Monitor budgets, negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with training vendors
  • Foster productive and collaborative internal and external working relationships, modelling a customer service orientation with all stakeholders
  • Provide high-level administrative support to the LBD team including managing the LBD email accounts and maintaining up to date and relevant information on the training web pages and the Learning Management System.

Business Development

  • Respond to all L&D inquiries in a personable and timely manner and work with Centre colleagues to develop appropriate solutions
  • Consult with members through structured feedback mechanisms to understand their needs, scope business development areas and develop tailored L&D solutions
  • Identify relevant business development opportunities for the Centre with non-members and allied workforces e.g. health, homelessness sectors.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential:

  1. Proven experience within Learning and Development and/or Organisational Development
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of nationally accredited training and Registered Training Organisation (RTO) requirements
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of non-accredited training programs and best practice L&D approaches
  4. Demonstrated comfort with technology and ability to adapt and operate a range of systems including, Learning Management Systems, WordPress, Monday, Zoom and Microsoft Office [essential]
  5. Demonstrated capacity to initiate and manage workflow with tight timelines, with a proven track record in high level administration tasks and an attention to detail
  6. Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively- verbal and written- with stakeholders at various levels with a strong customer service orientation
  7. Demonstrated ability to develop new opportunities and acquire new projects / sources of income

Desirable:

  1. Experience within the child, youth and family services and/or community service sector
  2. Training presentation: ability to create engaging and accessible learning materials e.g. with Canva, PowerPoint and Articulate 360 Suite

Qualifications

  1. A relevant qualification and/or experience within Learning and Development
  2. Experience in Learning Management Systems/ IT systems and a high level of computer literacy
  3. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Desirable)

Conditional Employment Requirements

  1. Satisfactory police check
  2. Satisfactory Working with Children Check
  3. Current Australian Driver’s Licence (Desirable)
