Industry coordination officer - women in construction coordination project

The CFMEU, Construction & General Division, ACT Divisional Branch (the CFMEU) represents over 2,000 construction workers in the ACT. The Union works to improve the lives of our members by bargaining for higher pay and conditions, supporting improvements in workplace health and safety. POSITION OVERVIEW

The CFMEU is seeking applications for an Industry Co-ordination Officer to conduct the Industry Co-ordination program, working with the Union, construction workers, industry and other stakeholders to deliver actions to support increased participation by women in the construction industry. The ACT Office for Women has engaged the CFMEU to develop and deliver the Industry Coordination Project. The objective of this project is to coordinate with industry, key stakeholders, and across the ACT Government to support safe and inclusive workplaces in the construction industry, and to increase women’s participation and retention in the industry.

Our ideal candidate takes ownership of issues and will demonstrate the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to understand industry requirements and work collaboratively to develop effective solutions.

The role requires highly developed written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including construction workers, government and industry.

Ideally, you will have proven ability to establish and manage projects within tight timeframes, build relationships, communicate effectively and influence stakeholders.

You have the ability to manage priorities, are resilient, tactful, passionate about what you do and committed to making a difference.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The primary responsibilities for this position are to, under direction:

  1. Duties of the role include gender equity training program co-facilitation, workshop facilitation, stakeholder liaison, evaluation, continuous improvement and reporting.
  2. Provide relevant, current, evidence-based analysis and strategic advice to senior officers of the Union and the government on matters relating to women in construction.
  3. Undertake work that is complex in nature, under limited direction such as overseeing the day to day activities of project development and implementation, ensuring that systems and services work reliably and securely with a focus on continuous improvement.
  4. Perform independent research work and analysis including the preparation of draft reports and briefs on relevant program activities and/or project milestones. This may include presenting at information sessions and/or workshops
  5. Structured outbound communication with members and other stakeholders by telephone and in person.
  6. In collaboration with the Union’s Media and Communications staff, deliver digital and traditional communications materials that promote gender equity in the construction industry to both internal and external audiences, including preparing materials for employers and employees in the industry.
  7. As part of this project, you will work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in the Construction Industry.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Selection Criteria)

Your suitability for this position will be assessed in the following areas:

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal and a demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise, co-ordinate and deliver in a busy environment.
  • High level analytical and problem solving skills that lead to development and implementation of innovative solutions for matters relating to women in construction.
  • Demonstrated competence in co-facilitating group learning including capacity to plan and coordinate with co-leaders of workshops.
  • Experience in development, implementation and evaluation of training programs
  • Experience in developing contextualised learning resources.
  • Administer surveys and workshops to support the data collection requirements of the project.
  • Experience or understanding of the building and construction industry would be highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and evaluate all aspects of project implementation, to identify and address issues, assess project progress and effectiveness, and achieve project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide advice and information to officers of the union on emerging project issues and to support project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy objectives and other project and priorities including a demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential issues with integrity.

  • 36 hour Week (RDO Arrangement)
  • 12 Month Contract
  • Salary Range $84,000 - $91,000 plus Superannuation and allowances
  • Allowances of $17,000
  • 12% Superannuation
