Challenging Minds is a NDIS registered provider of Positive Behaviour Support and Therapeutic Support. At present, Challenging Minds operates throughout the Northern Territory, but is looking at future expansion in other regional areas across Australia.

We provide high-quality services and can be best described as a boutique service specialising in disability, mental health, substance use, dual disability, and dual diagnosis. We are also looking to expand into training, and early intervention. This expansion marks an exciting time for Challenging Minds, but more importantly, for participants, their families and loved ones. Job Context:

Challenging Minds provide supports to the participant, their carers, families, significant others, cultural networks and/or support services. This role sits within Challenging Minds primary registration groups of both Behaviour Support and Therapeutic services.

About the Behaviour Practitioner Role:

The Behaviour Support Practitioner is a senior position and will deliver individualised strategies for people with a disability that are responsive to the person’s needs, in a way that reduces the occurrence and impact of behaviours of concern and minimises the use of restrictive practices.

Our team is currently seeking an additional super star to join our wonderful team on a permanent full-time basis.

A generous salary of between $90,000 and $110,000 p/a + Super + NFP Packaging, depending on the applicants’ qualifications and skills. Relocation costs, allowances and other benefits will be considered on application.

Essential Key Selection Criteria:

  • Proven experience in Positive Behaviour Support and/or tertiary qualification that would qualify you to deliver behaviour support services.
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulations Agency (AHPRA), AASW or APS as examples.
  • Substantial experience providing psychological/therapeutic services to people and children with a disability.
  • Broad knowledge of the support systems that people with disability may be part of.
  • A sound understanding of substance use issues, addiction, and dual diagnosis.
  • Extensive clinical knowledge and expertise in providing behaviour assessments and demonstrate comprehensive behaviour support planning skills.
  • Extensive experience in providing clinical and/or behaviour assessment, intervention and support in the disability, mental health, and complex support sectors.
  • A working knowledge of the NDIS, including but not limited to the Quality & Safeguard standards, and relevant disability legislation.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in high demand environments.
  • Strong communication skills including effective interpersonal, conflict negotiation, resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Proven experience in working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and support others to effectively deliver behaviour support.
  • Strong written communication to deliver effective plans and reporting in an NDIS environment.
  • Proven flexibility, adaptability, and ability to respond and adjust easily to changes in work demands.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in electronic records, client management systems, and data management tools.
  • An understanding of the requirements for ensuring child safety.
  • Must be able to travel remotely for up to 1 week at a time.
  • Currently have, or be able to obtain a NDIS Workers Screening Check, and Working With Childrens Check (OCHRE Card).
  • Must have a valid unrestricted drivers license and suitable vehicle.
