Come and join the fabulous Environmental Studies Team as a VET Lecturer / Workplace Assessor – Horticulture / Conservation & Land Management, your focus will be on training, customer service and student administration for our current students/apprentices/trainees. You will deliver training whilst working under the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and VET Quality Framework to the competency standards of the Agriculture / Horticulture / Conservation and Land Management (AHC) Training Package and industry requirements.

Training will be provided via blended delivery options including face-to-face, mixed mode, workplace based, professional short courses, external and online delivery. In addition, you will contribute to growing the business and anticipating and responding to industry training requirements.

Successful candidates will have strong skills in the areas of horticulture and conservation and land management specifically. Specifically, we are looking for people who are passionate around the sharing of knowledge and have skills in five or more of the following areas:

• Fire management and suppression (prefer Northern Australia)
• Mapping and GIS
• Pest recognition and management
• Use of chemicals
• 4WD drive operations- off road
• Machinery operations
• First Aid
• Plant nutrition
• Environmental sustainability
• CAD/design skills
• Soils and growing media
• Plant pests, diseases, disorders and control methods
• Local weeds and control methods
• Propagation, grafting and other nursery skills
• Plant recognition skills
• Cultural requirements of plants
• Pruning

Completion of a Certificate III level qualification (or higher) in Horticulture, or a related discipline is preferred with subsequent relevant work experience. The preferred candidate will have a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or the ability to obtain within the first 12 months.
