PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

You advance ChildFund Australia’s new strategic plan by ensuring quality health programming, particularly in the Pacific region. Working closely with Country Office (CO) staff and Global Program Director guidance, you provide quality technical support for all health projects across the project management cycle, grow and share capacity with in-country Programs staff and partners, support relevant grant development, and promote organisational learning related to health initiatives.

Key Duties

  • Provide strategic advice on health sector programming to the Global Programs Director.
  • Develop quality health programs and projects in collaboration with the Country Office Teams and our local partners.
  • Provide quality technical advice and support in accordance with our health program approach so that CO staff and partners can lead on the delivery, monitoring, and improvement of ongoing projects.
  • Provide oversight for health consultants as required.
  • Provide support to the design and preparation of grant submissions including drafting concept notes and strengthening proposals.
  • Guide and support health action-research projects initiated in Sydney and/or COs.
  • Represent ChildFund Australia at inter-agency meetings, Communities of Practice and international fora as required.
  • Support health-related advocacy activities and communications as required.
  • Strengthen local partnerships and/or relationships, e.g., through capacity sharing to support localisation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Public Health, Nutrition and/or Maternal Child Health.
  • Significant experience in health-related policy, program and/or and project management.
  • Experience in developing quality project proposals.
  • Experience in health focused research.
  • Experience in supporting staff to design, implement, evaluate, and mainstream health programs.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training and mentoring (adult education/ capacity building) in cross cultural contexts.
