Senior Campaigns and Policy Advisors

CHOICE

CHOICE is looking for two Senior Campaigns and Policy Advisors to join a high-performing team of advocates that fight for fair, safe and just markets for Australian consumers.

  • Passionate about making a difference?
  • Enjoy thinking creatively to devise strategies that inspire action?
  • Interested in shaping public policy decisions through advocacy and political engagement?

We’re looking for talented advocates looking to make change on any of CHOICE’s major impact priorities:

  • Strengthening consumer protection through championing landmark reforms, like a ban on unsafe products and an end to unfair business practices.
  • Stamping out the misuse of consumer data by big companies through changes to business practice and legislation, like our recent investigation into retail facial recognition technology.

You will be joining an organisation with a long track record of making a difference. CHOICE has been Australia’s consumer advocate since 1959, giving clear-cut advice about products, services and your rights. We work everyday to help people navigate complex markets, step in to stop businesses treating people unfairly and fight for governments to create laws in the interests of people, not big corporations.

About the Opportunity

This is a chance to advocate for generational reform that will level the playing field between consumers and business.

This role will take the lead on:

  • Planning and executing advocacy campaigns to improve consumer protections.
  • Finding strategies that use the power of consumers to influence key decision makers.
  • Collaborating with other advocates across a range of sectors, academics, investigative journalists and policymakers.
  • Researching and writing policy recommendations for changes to laws and business practices.

About You

You want to make Australia a better place for people. You have experience delivering on strategies to influence governments or businesses to change their ways. You love wrapping your head around complex issues and translating the details to help people understand what really matters.

You are:

  • A passionate advocate who is motivated to make a difference in the lives of consumers by campaigning for changes to laws and business practices.
  • A creative thinker who can generate effective campaign strategies— and adapt quickly to new developments.
  • A great communicator with the ability and drive to help CHOICE lead national debates.
  • An experienced policy thinker who can investigate complex and varied issues, make recommendations, and express policy solutions clearly.
  • A collaborative team player who can work with a variety of experts to make change
