Christians Against Poverty (CAP) has a vision that in Australia, no one will face financial distress alone.

CAP will:

  • Increase the awareness of issues facing people in financial distress, inspiring Australian Christians to think and act differently with their money for the benefit of those in financial distress.
  • Partner with local churches to inspire and equip them to walk alongside those in financial distress, while sharing the love of Jesus.
  • Equip church-based staff and volunteers to walk alongside people in financial distress, confidently and competently.

As part of the CAP Marketing Team, the Communications Specialist will play a vital role communicating CAP’s vision, mission, progress and ongoing need to all stakeholders.

The role includes producing both internal and external communications across digital platforms including socials, e-comms, and the website. The role will utilise your skills in creative development and copywriting.

We are looking for someone passionate about storytelling and ensuring that all communications are consistent with the CAP mission and vision and effective at inspiring people to get involved. You will have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude ensuring all communications are timely and align with messaging guidelines. You will be confident in producing a wide variety of content that drives traffic to our digital platforms and engages our audience deeply.

Role:

The Communications Specialist is responsible for assisting the Content and Communications Manager develop the internal and external communications of the charity. This role will have a particular focus on Digital Communication – content development and Social Media Communications.

Accountabilities:

Copywriting and content creation

  • Develop, manage and distribute content for internal and external audiences, under the lead of the Content and Communications Manager.
  • Research, write and publish content across a variety of platforms and channels, with a particular focus on digital.
  • Contribute to the development of the Social Media strategy, alongside the Digital Marketing Manager.
  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager to outwork CAP’s content strategy across digital channels, effectively distributing content and measuring its effectiveness.
  • Collaborating in the development and implementation of communication and marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness and drive engagement.
  • Ensure the integrity of the CAP brand is retained across all channels by proofing and undertaking quality control measures.
  • Maintaining content, photo and video libraries for use throughout the organisation.
  • Receiving and responding to communications and marketing enquiries from inside the organisation.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Responsible for identifying, recording and interviewing stakeholders (Participants, Church Leaders and Church Volunteers/Money Mentors) who are suitable for any campaigns and appeals where impact stories are needed, including video production projects, written copy and fundraising dinner live interviews.
  • Responsible for working with external videographers and photographers to capture participant and church stories.

Person Specification:

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Communications and/or Marketing or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years creating content for digital platforms, across social media, website and email.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Developed writing and editing skills across a broad range of digital channels, along with others such as print and media
  • A knowledge of digital marketing principles
  • A strong knowledge of SEO copywriting best practice
  • A creative thinker who can craft messages for different audiences
  • An ‘ideas’ person with a keen attention to detail
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude with a high level of initiative
